And now a word from our new esteemed leader
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls and Freshers and all the Oldies, I hope that covers every1.
I would like to start by saying thank you for appointing me as your president for 2008/2009 and asking what the hell were thinking????
I’ll try to live up to the high standard set by most of the past presidents over the ten years of the UUJMC and thank Joan McAleer for her dedication last year and wish her the best of luck as the president of the canoe club.
I was fortunate to start my fresher career under the leadership of Ryan Hurson and hope to have as big influence on the freshers as he did!! He eventually caused me to pack in my job after dragging me to the Mournes, Dalkey, Killarney, Galway, Hot rock, Dublin and many more at any weekend possible.
I hope to make 08/09 as memorable and enjoyable as possible with the trips to our regular haunts of the Mournes, Galway, Dublin, Scotland and a few new and old one’s such as Limerick, The Peak district, North Wales and a return visit to France as everyone who went had an amazing time and of course we can’t forget my home ground of Mexico, trips to Gola and Culdaff!
By now I’d say your feed up reading this crap so I’ll rap it up by saying welcome to all new comers and oldies your not going anywhere. So don’t be shy, if you have any questions/queries you can contact me or any of the committee by e-mail.
Or just come up to anyone of us in the University for a chat or even a pint (the mountaineering club has a problem that climbing gets in the way of our drinking time ?), we’re the 1’s with the black UUJMC hoodies, I’m the 1 with El Presidente on it!!!
Thanks,
Anthony

Uujmc Rocks!
Hope everyone enjoyed the weekend in the mournes. Lots of good climbing
done at both Spellack on Saturday and Pigeon on Sunday and we heard good reports
about the learn to lead course. With the brilliant weather there's no
excuse not to have loads of weekend or one night jaunts away.
Dont forget application forms have to be in by this Friday (20th) for the Conville course. See
the thread in climbing
chat for more details.
The next semi-official club trip will be to Culdaff
Climbfest for the mayday bank holiday weekend (4th-7th May).

Meelmore on the Saturday night. Stick your name down here
if you plan to be in attendance.
Dont forget next Friday (20th) is the closing date for applications for the Conville course. See
the thread in climbing
chat for more details.

Welcome to UUJMC - What Cant Uujmc Do For You?
Hey peoples regular climbing sessions are starting back on Wednesday afternoons from 3 to 7 in the Ozone (Belfast Indoor Tennis Arena, Ormeau Embankment). FIRST SESSION: 31st January! If you're out at Jordanstown you can meet Ryan at the sports union reception at 2.30 for a free ride to the wall.
If you've just heard of our club or you just want to start climbing or at least try it, come along on the 31st and meet the people and give it a go. All the equipment is provided for you as a new member of our club and absolutely no experience is necessary. You just have to bring a few pounds to pay into the wall and be up for trying new things.
The club will be making a presence at the Re-Freshers Fayre at Jordanstown on the 1st February, so if you cant make the Wednesday climbing speak to one of the club members at the stand on the mall and they'll tell you all about climbing, the club and possibly tie you up and stuff (maybe that was just my experience).
Feel free to ask any questions or leave a comment on the message board. Also browse the rest of the website while you're here. There are loads of photos of club trips and a few videos as well.
If you have any questions drop us an email
fresher@uujmc.com
and we'll get back to you ASAP. Don't worry if you can't make the climbing on a particular Wednesday because various members of the club climb at the wall most nights of the week and often head outdoors at the weekend. So if you're thinking of heading just put a message up on the forum and people will know to look out for you.
